Employee Engagement Tip!
Remote Book Club
A remote book club is a simple but powerful way to boost employee engagement—when it’s done right. Here’s a practical tip you can use:
Make it low-pressure and highly social.
Instead of assigning heavy reading or expecting deep literary analysis, keep the focus on connection. Choose shorter books, articles, or even podcasts, and frame meetings as casual conversations rather than “discussions.” Let people share personal takeaways, reactions, or even tangents—it builds authenticity and participation.
Bonus ideas to increase engagement:
- Rotate who picks the next read to give everyone a voice
- Offer optional attendance so it feels like a perk, not a task
- Create a Slack/Teams channel for ongoing, informal chat
- Tie themes to personal growth, culture, or fun (e.g., mystery month, career books, etc.)
The goal isn’t to finish books—it’s to create shared experiences across a distributed team. The e4health team is reading THE LET THEM THEORY by Mel Robbins! Happy Reading!
