Presymptomatic T1D consists of the presence of islet autoantibodies or biomarkers that attack islet autoantigens, such as insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas. Multiple islet autoantibodies increase the risk of developing symptomatic T1D by 100% within a lifetime.
