Manager, CDI Audits and Consulting

What is your role at e4health, and what does a typical day look like for you?

My role at e4health is the CDI Manager of Auditing and Consulting. I manage a wonderful team of consultants and auditors who help provide services to CDI programs across the country. I spend my days collaborating with clients, providing valid actionable data, and tailoring our support to help clients achieve high-quality best-practice CDI performance.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the e4health team?

The mutual respect and collaboration across all departments and within our team. e4health values input and partnership amongst all colleagues across every level of the team regardless of role or title, everyone has experience and perspective to offer. I also love being able to grow as an individual, professional, and learn from my peers in the organization.

What project or accomplishment are you most proud of during your time at e4health?

It's difficult to narrow it down to one project, but I would have to say better honing my skills at finding innovative solutions for clients during audits and assessments. After working in consulting for a number of years, you realize each CDI program has different needs and opportunities for growth. Creating strategies for CDI programs to implement, and watching the fruition of the changes being made in having that "AHA" moment when the change is beneficial is truly rewarding.

What is your favorite part of working in CDI, and why does it matter to you?

I have been in the CDI world for almost 15 years and every day I learn something new. I love the fact that CDI teams are in the background advocating for patients. During my scholarly studies I focused on how CDI teams' impact misdiagnosis and errors in documentation of diagnoses. This is extremely important in not only patient lives in the moment, but also in the creation of future evidenced-based practice based on meta data from patient claims and billing. This sounds cheesy, but CDI is undeniably helping improve current and future care of patients by ensuring accuracy in documentation.

What is one fun or unexpected fact about you that people might not know?

Oh, there are so many! One thing most people don't know about me is, I love to write. I would love to write a biography one day, and possibly some fiction. It's on my bucket list!

What inspired you to earn your doctorate?

I have always loved to learn, and earning my terminal degree was a long-standing personal goal. I was ultimately inspired to complete it by my children. I wanted to set an example for them and show that dedication to learning, perseverance, curiosity, and hard work can make even the most challenging goals achievable.
